Lithuania, Ukraine share common position on danger of Nord Stream 2

The Republic of Lithuania supports Ukraine in counteracting Russia's aggressive policy and shares the position on the danger of Nord Stream 2 pipeline construction for European security.

"Viktoras Pranckietis assured of Lithuania's strong support for Ukraine, including within the framework of international organizations, to counter Russian aggressive policy... The parties exchanged views on the coordination of actions within the PACE and the Baltic+ Group in particular... The common position on the danger of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline construction for European security was also underscored during the meeting,” reads the statement of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine following the negotiations of Foreign Minister of Ukraine Vadym Prystaiko with Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania Viktoras Pranckietis on November 18.

As the press service reports, the Speaker of Lithuanian Parliament stressed that the Seimas members constantly raise the need for political support to Ukraine in its struggle for the restoration of its territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders in the negotiations with international partners.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine thanked Lithuania for its comprehensive support, including in the reform process. In this context, the importance of holding the Ukraine Reform Conference in Vilnius in 2020 was noted.
