Both Ukraine and Russia must comply with Minsk agreements – Austrian foreign minister

The implementation of the Minsk agreements on the settlement of the armed conflict in Donbas is mandatory for both Ukraine and Russia.

Federal Minister for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Austria Alexander Schallenberg said this during a joint press conference with Foreign Minister of Ukraine Vadym Prystaiko in Kyiv on Thursday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“I want to emphasize that the Minsk agreements must be implemented, and a lot depends on your (northern) neighbor,” Schallenberg said.

He confirmed that after Kyiv he was going to St. Petersburg, but not as Minister of Foreign Affairs, but as Minister of Culture. According to him, after the end of this Year of Austrian culture in Ukraine, the next one will be the Year of Austrian culture in Russia.

According to the Austrian foreign minister, a lot of efforts are now being made to ensure that the meeting in the "Normandy format" takes place and is effective.
