Berlin not ready to announce date of Normandy format summit, talks are ongoing

The date of the next meeting of the Normandy Four leaders is still unknown, the negotiations are ongoing.

"Today, I still cannot announce the date of the [Normandy format] meeting. But what I can say is that the talks at the working level are ongoing to prepare the summit in the near future," German Federal Government Spokesman Steffen Seibert said at a briefing on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to him, there is a common desire to hold such a meeting in the near future.

In particular, this was discussed during a telephone conversation between German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday.

Seibert also mentioned the disengagement of troops near Petrivske and Bohdanivka last weekend after the disengagement near Stanytsia Luhanska and Zolote.

"The federal government welcomes this as an important element of building trust," the German Federal Government Spokesman said.

On November 11, German Chancellor Angela Merkel had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin and discussed the preparations for the Normandy format summit.

At the same time, a statement on the Kremlin's website emphasizes that the parties discussed the preparations for a "possible summit" in the Normandy format.
