Japan to assist Donetsk region in implementation of educational, medical and economic projects

Next year, Japan will assist Donetsk region in the implementation of educational, medical and economic projects.

“Japan intends to support next year educational, medical and economic projects aimed at job creation in Donetsk region. The assistance will be provided through various organizations, including UNICEF. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine Takashi Kurai gave a corresponding assurance during the meeting at the Donetsk Regional Military-Civilian Administration,” Chairman of the Donetsk Regional Military-Civilian Administration Pavlo Kyrylenko posted on Facebook.

As noted, Japan and UNHCR have been already implementing extremely important projects for Donetsk region. This year, 400 houses damaged during the armed hostilities in Donetsk and Luhansk regions have been restored with the financial assistance of Japan worth $4 million. In addition, a number of projects have been implemented aimed at educating young people and building the communities in which they live, while investment in youth certainly contributes to the prosperity of the region.

"We are grateful to the Government of Japan for the assistance to the water supply company Voda Donbasu which received in April two specialized vehicles equipped for operation on the contact line," Kyrylenko added.

The Chairman of the Donetsk Regional Military-Civilian Administration stressed that he assured Ambassador Takashi Kurai that this assistance and political support are extremely important for Donetsk region.
