Zelensky, Erdogan in phone call discuss free trade agreement

President Volodymyr Zelensky held a phone conversation with President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the president’s press service reported on Wednesday evening.

“During the conversation, the parties discussed preparations for holding a regular meeting of the High-Level Strategic Council in Kyiv co-chaired by the Presidents of Ukraine and Turkey,” reads the report.

The presidents stated about a common commitment to further enhance cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.

Also, they noted that the negotiation process on preparations for the conclusion of the Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and Turkey should be intensified.

In addition, the Ukrainian president welcomed the participation of Turkish companies in the exhibition Weapons and Security 2019, noting the importance of cooperation with Turkey so that to enhance Ukraine’s defense capability.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in turn, stressed that Turkey's support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine remained unchanged. He also welcomed the steps taken by the Ukrainian president on the peaceful settlement of the situation in Donbas.
