Supreme Court rejects Shokin's reinstatement as prosecutor general

The Cassation Administrative Court, part of the Supreme Court, has rejected a statement by former Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin who asked for his reinstatement in office, the Supreme Court's press service has told Ukrinform.

"The Cassation Administrative Court, part of the Supreme Court, has refused to satisfy a statement on the review under new circumstances of a High Administrative Court of Ukraine ruling of April 20, 2017 in case No. 900/98/17, which rejected the plaintiff's request to renew the term of an appeal to the administrative court with a lawsuit against President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine," the press service said.

Shokin on September 2 filed a statement with the Supreme Court with the request to review under "new circumstances" a ruling of the High Administrative Court, which refused to reinstate him at the Prosecutor General's Office.

Shokin held the post of Ukraine's prosecutor general from February 2015 to April 2016. The Verkhovna Rada dismissed him on March 29, 2016.
