Zelensky calls on Japanese Parliament to grant visa waiver to Ukrainians

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has discussed with the leadership of the Japanese Parliament the reforms and attraction of investments in Ukraine and urged to grant visa waiver to Ukrainians in the run-up to the 2020 Olympic Games.

Zelensky discussed this during a meeting with Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Japanese Parliament Tadamori Oshima and Speaker of the House of Councillors Akiko Santo in Tokyo, the press service of the President reports.

It is noted that Zelensky thanked the leadership of the Japanese Parliament for supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.

He also expressed confidence in the effectiveness of the newly formed group in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the inter-parliamentary relations with Japan.

In addition, the parties discussed reforms and attraction of investment in Ukraine.

As Speaker of the House of Councillors Akiko Santo stressed, more than 40 Japanese private companies are registered in Ukraine and Japanese businesspersons point to great potential of Ukraine. In turn, the President of Ukraine expressed hope that the number of Japanese companies registered in Ukraine would grow.

Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Japanese Parliament Tadamori Oshima stressed that he knew about Ukraine, in particular thanks to performances of Ukrainian athletes and hoped to see them at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

In this context, Zelensky urged to grant visa waiver to Ukrainians in the run-up to the 2020 Olympic Games.

On October 21-24, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky makes a working visit to Japan.
