Canada’s ruling party supports granting visa free travels to Ukraine

The ruling Liberal Party of Canada supports the possible introduction of visa-free travel regime for Ukrainian citizens.

This is stated in the official response of the party to the inquiry of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress available to Ukrinform.

“During the visit of President Zelensky to Canada in July, our government discussed facilitating the requirements that Ukrainian citizens need to meet for traveling to Canada. Our party is convinced of the need to continue these discussions and to advance as quickly as possible to facilitate travels to Canada, including the possible introduction of a visa-free regime in the future,” the response reads.

In recent years, Canada has simplified the process of issuing visas to Ukrainians and is currently working on a youth mobility agreement, the Liberal Party recalls.

Ukraine abolished visas for Canadians as early as 2005, but Canada has not yet canceled its visa requirements for Ukrainians. President Zelensky's visit to Canada took place in early July as part of the Ukraine Reform Conference in Toronto.
