Zelensky not against involvement of former political prisoners in Minsk process

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky believes that the Ukrainian side can involve released political prisoners in the humanitarian working subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group on Donbas.

He stated this during a media marathon in Kyiv on Thursday, October 10, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

“If we are talking about Minsk, then this is possible [the involvement of the released political prisoners in the TCG]. The group does not consist of three people. It consists of political, security, humanitarian and economic subgroups. I think that if we talk about political prisoners, they can help the humanitarian subgroup,” Zelensky said.

At the same time, he does not consider it expedient to involve the released Ukrainians in the negotiation process in the Normandy format. “There are four leaders in the Normandy process ... I don’t understand how we can attract political prisoners to these negotiations," the president said.
