Zelensky says his main mission is to end war

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that people elected him as a president who will end the war in Ukraine and that this is his main mission.

He said this at a meeting with journalists in Kyiv on Thursday, October 10, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"I want to remind you which Zelensky the society elected – they elected a president who will end the war. I will always remain such a person. We'll discuss how we end this. We have plans on how we can do it. But my main goal [...] is that I want to end the war. This is my mission within these five years or slightly more than four-and-a-half years," Zelensky said.

He added that those who live in Donbas and feel they are Ukrainians "should know that we do not leave them, we will definitely bring them back together with [occupied] territories."

The president stressed that "no television, no media should influence them, and only they themselves can do it."

"For our part, we are really working to ensure that our channels, our media could appear there. It's very difficult. We spoke with Western partners, and we have support here. How to make so that they hear us there, but whether they hear us or not is just their internal question," Zelensky added.
