An international peacekeeping mission in Donbas should help Kyiv regain control over the entire section of the border with Russia if the decision on such a mission is made, Elmar Brok, Special Adviser to European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker on relations with Ukraine, has said.

"I think we should work with the OSCE. It must be clear that this peacekeeping mission [...] should work to help the Ukrainian authorities regain control over the border," Brok told an Ukrinform correspondent at the Salzburg Europe Summit while commenting on the possibility of introducing a peacekeeping mission to Donbas.

At the same time, the politician stressed the importance of continuing the dialogue between the parties to the conflict: "Never give up the negotiations. You need to talk and talk. I don't know if there is any result, and no one knows. But if you don't talk, then there will be no result."

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko said on September 16 that the UN peacekeeping mission could be the next step if settlement in Donbas could not be achieved through the Minsk agreements.
