Razumkov, Latvian foreign minister discuss Donbas, Crimea and PACE

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Dmytro Razumkov held a meeting with Foreign Minister of Latvia Edgars Rinkevics on October 7, according to the parliament’s official website.

The Ukrainian speaker thanked Latvia for comprehensive support for Ukraine, in particular, the issues of territorial integrity and sovereignty.

“Ukraine is grateful to you, as representative of Latvia, for the consistent position regarding Russian aggression in the east of Ukraine and annexation of Crimea, as well as on PACE issues,” the speaker said, praising the position of Latvia and its parliamentary delegation on the PACE decision to return the Russian delegation to the Assembly.

Razumkov also noted the organization of a meeting in Riga with the participation of MPs from the Baltic States, Georgia, Poland, Great Britain, Ukraine, Sweden and Denmark to discuss further actions in connection with such a decision of the Assembly.

The Ukrainian speaker also thanked the Latvian side for providing significant assistance in the rehabilitation of the Ukrainian military, wounded in combat actions in eastern Ukraine. He also noted the assistance of Latvia in organizing vacations for children from families of military personnel whose parents died or were injured during the ATO/JFO.

In turn, the Latvian foreign minister praised the high rate of legislative changes in Ukraine. He also wished success in carrying out the reforms and invited the Ukrainian parliamentary delegation to visit Latvia.
