Yermak: France and Germany support Ukrainian position in Normandy format talks

Ukrainian President’s aide Andriy Yermak is confident that Ukraine, France and Germany share the same position in the Normandy format talks.

“As for the ‘Normandy Four format’, the results of the work of foreign policy advisers of France and Germany testify to the support of the Ukrainian position, the fundamental points we assert. I do not see that France has taken a pro-Russian position somewhere,” Yermak said in an interview with LB.ua online media outlet.

He stressed that “the positions of Germany, France, and Ukraine coincide today.”

According to him, the French and German sides assure of their full support for Ukraine in phone conversations with President Zelensky.

At the same time, speaking about a possible date of a meeting of the Normandy Four leaders, the presidential aide did not rule out that it could take place in late September - early October.

“During the latest conversation, which lasted two hours and forty minutes, the leaders of three countries - Germany, France, and Ukraine – suggested meeting at the end of the month, just after New York. Russia neither confirmed nor rejected this timeline. I think it could be the end of September - the beginning of October,” Yermak said.

As reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that there was no specific date of a meeting of the Normandy Four leaders so far but Ukraine insisted on holding such a meeting yet in September.
