All released Ukrainian sailors receive apartments at president’s initiative

At the initiative of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, apartments have already been purchased for all 24 released Ukrainian sailors, and housing will be bought for the rest of former Kremlin hostages in the coming weeks.

The deputy head of the President's Office, Kyrylo Tymoshenko, said this to journalists at a briefing near the Verkhovna Rada, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“This was the initiative of the president. We are dealing with the issue of buying apartments for former prisoners, except for sailors for whom we have already purchased apartments. They will live in the same building. Other people who were among the 35 released ones will also receive apartments – this is a matter of one to two weeks,” Tymoshenko said.

As reported, Russia and Ukraine exchanged detainees in the 35-for-35 format on September 7. Eleven Ukrainians illegally convicted in Russia, including Oleg Sentsov, Roman Sushchenko, Oleksandr Kolchenko, Pavlo Hryb and others, and 24 sailors detained near the Kerch Strait in late November 2018 returned to Ukraine.
