French and Russian defense ministers discuss Ukraine

The Minister of the Armed Forces of France, Florence Parly, held a phone conversation with the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Sergei Shoigu, to discuss issues of global and regional security.

"I talked on the phone with my Russian colleague Sergei Shoigu. Ukraine, Persian Gulf, Levant, CAR – we raised many issues that will be on the agenda for our meeting in Moscow next Monday together with [French and Russian foreign ministers] Jean-Yves Le Drian and Sergei Lavrov," Parly wrote on her official Twitter account.

The meeting between Russian and French defense and foreign ministers will be held in Moscow on September 9.

As Ukrinform reported, French President Emmanuel Macron earlier stated that France and Russia would hold talks in the 2+2 format in Moscow at the level of foreign and defense ministers on September 9. The purpose of the meeting is "to build a true European strategy and the architecture for security and trust in Europe".
