German government spokesperson: Date of Normandy Four summit unknown yet

The date of the Normandy Four summit has not yet been determined, thorough preparation for the summit is ongoing.

German Federal Government's spokesperson Steffen Seibert made a corresponding statement at a briefing in Berlin, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"No, I can’t name a specific date [of the summit]," Seibert said.

He noted that the meeting of the presidents of Ukraine, France, Russia, and the German Chancellor "should be well prepared." Such preparations are currently ongoing, as was discussed by Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron.

Seibert noted that, according to the Chancellor, the steps taken in Stanytsia Luhanska give reason to hope that further steps towards peace in the region are possible.

Earlier, the French president said that the Normandy format summit could be held in September.

According to Merkel, the summit will be held in Paris.
