Pompeo and Trudeau discuss situation in Ukraine

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and United States Secretary of State Michael Pompeo discussed the situation in Ukraine.

"The Prime Minister and the Secretary of State shared views on a range of current global issues, including Venezuela, Iran, Ukraine, and Jammu and Kashmir," PM Trudeau’s Office says in a statement following the meeting.

The interlocutors also had an exchange on Canada-U.S. cooperation in the Arctic, with the Prime Minister reaffirming Canada’s longstanding position regarding Canadian sovereignty over the Northwest Passage.

In addition, Trudeau and Pompeo discussed relations with China and ongoing developments in Hong Kong.

As reported, U.S. Secretary of State Michael Pompeo on Thursday, on August 22, paid a one-day visit to Ottawa, where he met with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland.
