Zelensky meets with representatives of Crimean Tatar people

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with representatives of the Crimean Tatar people and discussed issues of cooperation with them, the president’s press service has reported.

The meeting took place at a joint initiative of the parties and was aimed at deepening the cooperation of the Presidential Office, the President's Representational Office in Crimea and the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, and coordinating efforts with a view to de-occupy the peninsula and reintegrate it.

The meeting was attended by Permanent Representative of the President in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Anton Korynevych, leader of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev, Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov, and Qurultay delegate Rustem Umerov.

The parties discussed the protection of human rights, especially those of political prisoners, in the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol. They also touched upon legislative initiatives and humanitarian issues.

As known, the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples is marked on August 9.
