Servant of the People may become majority in parliament

The pro-presidential Servant of the People party will be able to form a majority in the Verkhovna Rada of the ninth convocation without the involvement of partner parties.

These are the preliminary results of Ukraine's snap parliamentary elections on party lists and in single-member constituencies, which were posted on the website of the Central Election Commission early on July 22, according to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.

Servant of the People will have over 120 seats on parliament based on the voting for the lists of political parties. Zelensky's party will also bring more than 110 deputies to parliament through single-member constituencies. Thus, Servant of the People will have more than 230 seats in a new Verkhovna Rada, which is enough to form the parliament's governing bodies and a government without the involvement of other parties.

The pro-presidential party will have to look for partners for probable changes to the Constitution of Ukraine, which requires the support of more than 300 MPs.

With over 48% of the ballot counted in Ukraine's snap parliamentary elections, the Servant of the People party leads with more than 42% of the vote.

Early parliamentary elections were held in Ukraine on July 21.
