Poroshenko meets with 30 MEPs in Strasbourg

The fifth president of Ukraine and the leader of the European Solidarity party, Petro Poroshenko, met with friends of Ukraine during his visit to Strasbourg on Wednesday.

"Today, in Strasbourg, we had a unique meeting of friends of Ukraine, when almost 30 deputies of the European Parliament gathered for the first time. The meeting was scheduled for 45 minutes, but lasted for almost 2 hours. This is a confirmation of the interest of the European Parliament as regards Ukraine. We shall preserve the trend that was present in the European Parliament of the last convocation," Poroshenko wrote on Facebook.

Among the participants of the group of friends there were four prime ministers, a former foreign minister, and representatives of various political groups. "I am convinced that it provides us with a solid foundation for further effective cooperation," Poroshenko noted.

Poroshenko also demanded that the Russian Federation publish a list of political prisoners held in the Russian Federation, as well as the illegally annexed Crimea, and the occupied Donbas.

As a reminder, Poroshenko paid a visit to Strasbourg on July 17-18 at the invitation of members of the European Parliament.
