EU’s support for Ukraine aims at protecting norms of international law – prime minister

Support for Ukraine is not an issue of the position of some countries or politicians, it is an issue of protecting common values and norms of international law.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said this during a meeting with President of the European Council Donald Tusk in Kyiv on Monday, the Government portal reported.

Tusk visited the area of the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) in Stanytsia Luhanska on Sunday, July 7. The infrastructure of the checkpoint is destroyed and poses a threat to the lives of people who cross it daily. Commenting on the situation, Tusk offered to render assistance to this territory.

The prime minister thanked for such attention to the situation in Donbas and stressed that it would be important not only to provide humanitarian aid, but also to preserve the mechanism of punishing the aggressor, who caused great suffering.

Therefore, the preservation of sanctions and the comprehensive support of Ukraine in the context of restoring territorial integrity is an important element of bilateral relations.
