Secretary Danyliuk names priorities of National Security Council

The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) must be reformed in order to counter challenges, NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Danyliuk has stated.

“First of all, I will clearly orient the work of the NSDC to the current challenges. There is cybersecurity, and I will rebuild relations with key global players – Israel and the United States. We should not lag behind; we should be a reliable partner. This is a global history. Secondly, there is energy, where we have a lot of challenges. There must be a platform to assess risks on time and propose solutions,” Danyliuk said in an interview with the Ukrayinska Pravda online news site.

Among other priorities, he also named the issue of war, noting that “the fact that there are no active military actions now compared to 2015 does not mean anything. If we analyze the motivation and behavior pattern of Russians and the leadership of Russia, we see that this is a threat. We must always be ready.”

He also stressed the need to reform the security sector, in particular, intelligence and counterintelligence.

As reported, Oleksandr Danyliuk was appointed as Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine on May 28.
