Zelensky at meeting with Freeland confirms Ukraine’s course towards EU and NATO

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada Chrystia Freeland held a meeting in Toronto on July 2, the president’s press service reported.

"The President thanked Canada for the consistent comprehensive support of Ukraine at the bilateral level and as part of multilateral cooperation formats, in particular, the G-7 and the UN. Volodymyr Zelensky and Chrystia Freeland stressed the importance of consolidating an international coalition to counter Russian aggression," reads the report.

President Zelensky also thanked Chrystia Freeland for organizing the international Ukraine Reform Conference, which began in Toronto on July 2.

In addition, Zelensky confirmed that Ukraine’s course for the EU and NATO full membership remained unchanged. He has also expressed hope for further active cooperation with Canada regarding the Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine.

As Ukrinform reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Canada on an official visit. According to the Presidential Office, the head of the Ukrainian state will also meet with Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau, U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker, European Commissioner Elzbieta Bienkowska, representatives of the Ukrainian World Congress and the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, as well as attend a ceremony to commemorate the Holodomor victims and some other events.
