Oleksandr Danyliuk, Kent Logsdon discuss Ukraine’s energy security

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) Oleksandr Danyliuk held a meeting with Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Energy Resources Kent D. Logsdon and U.S. Charge d'Affaires a.i. in Ukraine William Taylor, according to the NSDC’s press service.

“During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of Ukraine's energy security, in particular, the activities of Naftogaz of Ukraine, the issue of nuclear energy of Ukraine and prospects of cooperation in this sphere,” reads the report.

Also, Oleksandr Danyliuk during the meeting noted the importance of diversifying sources and ways of supplying natural gas to Ukraine, improving the energy infrastructure.

In his turn, Kent Logsdon expressed support for Ukraine, particularly, regarding the consequences  that may arise for Europe from the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline by Russia: "This is a geopolitical project that poses a threat to the energy security of the whole of Europe”. 

He also assured that the U.S. would further provide comprehensive assistance to Ukraine on its way to gaining energy independence.
