Servant of the People not ready to unite with old parties - head of election team

The head of the campaign headquarters of the Servant of the People party, Oleksandr Kornienko, has said that the party has not changed its position and is not ready to form an alliance with old parties, such as the Opposition Bloc or Batkivshchyna.

He stated this in an interview with the Ukrayinska Pravda online news site.

According to him, Servant of the People and singer Svyatoslav Vakarchuk's Holos party support "the same things," and in some western regions of Ukraine and "a bit in Kyiv" these parties share the same ideas.

"But we do not consider them to be our competitors, because we stand for the same things. In the east, we have competitors like Opposition Bloc and For Life," Kornienko said.

At the same time, he noted that the possibility of creating a coalition between Servant of the People and Holos has yet to be discussed.

Kornienko said that he was not against cooperation with Ihor Smeshko's Strength and Honor party.

"Smeshko [party] can be attributed to new forces. His party previously participated in the elections, but his list includes new specialists," he said.

Kornienko said that the Servant of the People party would not create an alliance with old parties such as Batkivshchyna, Opposition Bloc and For Life.
