New Finnish ambassador begins diplomatic mission in Ukraine

The newly appointed ambassador of the Republic of Finland to Ukraine, Päivi Maarit Laine, has begun a diplomatic mission in Ukraine, the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine reports on Twitter.

"Deputy Foreign Minister Sergiy Kyslytsya received copies of credentials from newly appointed Ambassador of Finland to Ukraine Päivi Maarit Laine," the report says.

During the meeting, the parties noted the high level of bilateral cooperation and emphasized the importance of further deepening Ukrainian-Finnish interaction, in particular in the context of Finland’s Presidency in the Council of the European Union from July 1, 2019.

Special attention was paid to the issues of cooperation between the two countries within the framework of international organizations.

Sergiy Kyslytsya expressed gratitude to Finland for its unwavering support of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as for providing practical assistance in implementing systemic reforms in our country, particularly in the areas of secondary education system improvement and energy efficiency.

As Ukrinform reported, Finland’s Ambassador to Ukraine Mr Juha Virtanen completed his diplomatic mission in Ukraine on May 21.
