Zelensky dismisses 15 regional governors

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has dismissed the heads of 15 regional state administrations.

Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Ruslan Riaboshapka said this at a briefing on Tuesday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"Regarding the dismissal of governors, the first part of motions from the Cabinet of Ministers for the dismissal of heads of regional state administrations came today," he said.

According to him, the head of state dismissed the heads of Chernihiv, Khmelnytsky, Kherson, Ternopil, Sumy, Poltava, Mykolaiv, Lviv, Kirovohrad, Kyiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zaporizhia, Zakarpattia and Volyn regions.

In addition, Riaboshapka noted that the acting Odesa regional governor had been suspended from office.

The Cabinet of Ministers on June 5 proposed that President Volodymyr Zelensky dismiss a number of heads of regional state administrations. Later it emerged in the media that it was proposed to dismiss 13 regional governors.
