Poroshenko signs decree on inauguration of Zelensky

Incumbent President Petro Poroshenko has signed a decree on ensuring the conduct of events related to the inauguration of President-elect Volodymyr Zelensky.

Relevant decree No 228/2019 has been posted on the president’s website.

According to the document, the organizing committee has been formed and approved so that “to properly organize the events related to the inauguration of the newly elected President of Ukraine”.

The committee includes 16 officials and representatives of President-elect Volodymyr Zelensky.

In particular, the committee has been charged with approving a plan within two days for the organization and conduct of activities related to inauguration.

In addition, the Foreign Ministry should take measures in line with the established procedure and invite foreign delegations (representatives of the diplomatic corps of foreign states) to attend the inauguration ceremony.

The Foreign Ministry should also take additional measures to ensure public order during the preparations and conduct of activities related to inauguration.

In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers, the State Management of Affairs have been instructed to carry out financial, material and technical support of events related to the inauguration, while the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting has been charged with providing wide media coverage of these events.

As reported, the Verkhovna Rada set the inauguration of Ukrainian President-elect Volodymyr Zelensky for Monday, May 20.
