Parliament passes law on improving activities of State Bureau of Investigation

The Verkhovna Rada has passed the law on improving the activities of the State Bureau of Investigations.

A total of 277 MPs voted in favor of the document, with at least 226 votes needed to make the decision, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

The law regulates a complex of legal, organizational and staff issues related to ensuring the proper functioning of the State Bureau of Investigations.

In particular, the document establishes qualification requirements for directors of territorial departments, heads of departments of the central offices and heads of internal control departments of the State Bureau of Investigations.

The law also specifies the list of departments that have the right to carry out operative investigation activities, types of special titles of the Bureau, the procedure for financing and payroll etc.

In general, the law introduces amendments to the Laws "On the State Bureau of Investigations" and "On Operative Investigation Activities".

The law comes into force on the day following its publication.
