President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko thanked European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker for his personal contribution to progress in the implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, functioning of the deep and comprehensive free trade area and the introduction of the visa-free regime.

The leaders met within the framework of the high-level conference on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership in Brussels, the press service of the Head of State reports.

 “Petro Poroshenko thanked Jean-Claude Juncker for his personal contribution to the achievement in recent years of Ukraine-EU relations of significant progress in the implementation of the Association Agreement, the functioning of the deep and comprehensive free trade area and the introduction of the visa-free regime,” reads the statement.

The Head of State also noted significant support of Jean-Claude Juncker in the area of reforms and promotion of Ukraine's economic development, in particular by providing Ukraine with macro-financial assistance.

The President of Ukraine expressed hope for the further support by the President of the European Commission of ambitious initiatives and goals on deepening sectoral integration between Ukraine and the EU, in particular in the context of preparations for the next EU-Ukraine Summit in 2019.

In addition, the President of Ukraine awarded Jean-Claude Juncker the Order of Yaroslav the Wise of the I degree for his personal contribution to the development of Ukraine-EU cooperation.
