Almost 900 united territorial communities created in Ukraine - Zubko
Almost 900 united territorial communities have been created in Ukraine. In 66 of these communities, first local elections will be held on June 30.
Deputy Prime Minister - Minister for Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Hennadiy Zubko stated this, when commenting on recent data released by the ministry on results of the process of decentralization and local government reform, the Government portal has reported.
“The process of communities’ creation is underway. 33 cities of regional significance attach united communities. The five leading regions in carrying out decentralization remain the same. Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Khmelnytsky regions continue to lead in the region’s ranking of efficient communities’ creation," Zubko said.
At the same time, he has said that there are 94 districts where united territorial communities have not been created yet.
"Today, Ukraine has created all the necessary conditions for further successful decentralization. But in order the reform be truly irrevocable, we need to approve amendment to the Constitution regarding decentralization," Zubko stressed.
