Volodymyr Omelyan during meeting with George Kent calls on strengthening sanctions against Russia

Ukraine’s Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan during a meeting with U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State George Kent has called on the American side together with EU institutions to strengthen sanctions against the Russian Federation over of the situation in the Sea of Azov, the Infrastructure Ministry’s press service has reported.

“We see that sanctions work, and it is an effective mechanism for stopping the creeping occupation of the Azov and Black Seas from Russia,” said Omelyan.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation. The infrastructure minister stated that Ukraine’s foreign policy vector aimed at the European and Euro-Atlantic integration would be maintained and reforms be further implemented.

Also, the parties discussed the development of infrastructure in eastern Ukraine, the new international transport corridor Go Highway and the strengthening of cooperation in the field of cyber security.

George Kent highly appreciated the policy of the Ukrainian infrastructure ministry aimed at expanding the Ukrainian-American cooperation and assured the Ukrainian side of the U.S. support.
