Groysman: European integration is key priority for Ukraine

The European integration remains a key priority for Ukraine, along with the continuation of reforms and the promotion of changes in the judicial system of the country.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman stated this during a meeting with EU Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn, the Government portal reported.

"The European integration and intensive implementation of the Association Agreement are the number one priority for us, in terms of the political and economic component," said Groysman.

The Ukrainian prime minister informed the EU commissioner about the current economic situation in Ukraine and future steps of the Cabinet of Ministers to ensure further economic growth in the state.

“We believe that the year 2019 should be the year of establishing a decent judicial system, this will be the topical issue for us. Then, the continuation of reforms, even in the period between elections,” said Groysman.

In turn, EU Commissioner Johannes Hahn stressed the importance of reforms and noted the achieved results: "We see good results of transformation”.

Johannes Hahn also noted the good organization and holding of presidential campaign in Ukraine and said that “Ukraine can be proud of this”.

During the talks, the parties also discussed the issues of countering Russian aggression, the continuation of sanctions policy and fair assessment of Russian projects such as Nord Stream 2.

The meeting of Volodymyr Groysman and Johannes Hahn took place as part of the official visit of the European official to Kyiv.
