FM Klimkin comments on dismissal of Ukraine’s ambassador to Moldova

Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin said that Ivan Hnatyshyn was dismissed from the post of ambassador of Ukraine to Moldova because the diplomat had submitted the letter of resignation.

In a post on his Facebook page, Klimkin wrote: "Many people are asking me about the news regarding the dismissal of Ivan Hnatyshyn from the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Moldova. It was his own decision, taking into account his personal factors and age. I greatly respect and appreciate Ivan Mykolayovych and thank him for his professional work!"

As reported, President Petro Poroshenko yesterday signed a decree to dismiss Ivan Hnatyshyn as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Moldova.

Ivan Hnatyshyn was Ukraine's ambassador to Moldova from 1996 to 2001. He was again appointed to this post in 2015. He also served as Ukraine’s ambassador to the Republic of Slovenia, deputy foreign minister and held other posts at the Foreign Ministry.
