Foreign Ministry: Germany’s support to Ukraine is very important

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry states that Germany’s support and assistance to Ukraine in preserving territorial integrity and implementing reforms is very important.

Deputy Foreign Minister Yehor Bozhok said this during a meeting with Renata Alt and Frank Müller-Rosentritt, members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the German Bundestag, MPs of the Free Democratic Party, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry’s press service reported.

“Germany’s support and assistance to Ukraine in preserving territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as in implementing systemic reforms, is very important”, Deputy Minister Yehor Bozhok stressed.

According to the ministry’s press service, the parties during the talks stressed the importance of deepening the joint collaboration in order to counter Russia’s hybrid threats aimed at destabilizing the democratic system in Europe.

“The issue of Russian aggression against Ukraine was discussed separately during the meeting. The interlocutors emphasized that respect for international law should remain a key factor in inter-state relations. Yehor Bozhok urged German MPs to increase political and economic pressure on the Kremlin in order to return Russia to the realm of international law,” reads the statement.

Also, the deputy foreign minister has noted that Ukraine’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration course remains unchanged, and the practical assistance of German partners is extremely important for its implementation.

German politicians also highly assessed the democratic nature of Ukraine’s presidential elections and noted that Ukraine once again proved its commitment to democracy and European values.
