Next meeting of Trilateral Contract Group to be held on May 22

The next meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) on the settlement of the situation in eastern Ukraine will be held in Minsk on May 22.

The Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office in Ukraine and in the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG), Ambassador Martin Sajdik, said this in the statement to the press after the meeting of the TCG ‎and its working groups in Minsk on 24, BelTA reported.

"On the occasion of the forthcoming Easter festivities, the next meeting of Trilateral Contract Group will be held in Minsk on May 22. Video conferences may be held before that if necessary,” reads the report.

Sajdik has noted that during the meeting, the parties have supported the idea of the Easter truce “as a matter of principle”, but unfortunately, “they've been unable to come up with a unified text of the statement”.

“I hope that in practice the parties will refrain from combat actions, in particular, for the duration of the forthcoming Easter and May festivities,” he said, noting that the Easter truce was the main topic at the meeting of the security working group.
