Poroshenko, Alliance 90/The Greens members discuss security situation in Donbas

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko discussed with representatives of the Alliance 90/The Greens the security situation in Donbas.

As the press service of the Head of State reports, the meeting took place within the framework of the President’s working visit to Germany, on April 12.

The parties confirmed the importance of increasing pressure on the Russian side in order to ensure freedom of navigation in the region.

“They also discussed the security situation in Donbas and noted the importance of the implementation of the initiative of the President of Ukraine to deploy a UN peacekeeping operation on the territory of certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions,” the statement reads.

As noted, the Head of State thanked for the party's special attention to the situation in the Sea of Azov. The importance of implementing infrastructure and social projects for the development of the region was emphasized, first of all, in the context of counteracting the blockade of the Kerch Strait and the Sea of Azov by Russia.

Particular attention was paid to the issue of immediate and unconditional release of Ukrainian seamen and political prisoners illegally detained by Russia.

The German parliamentarians commended the changes that have taken place in Ukraine over the past five years, in particular, the launch of the Anti-Corruption Court.
