Poroshenko, Kramp-Karrenbauer discuss situation in Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and leader of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer have discussed the situation in Ukrainian territories temporarily occupied by Russia, the press service of the head of state has reported.

The meeting between them took place as part of Poroshenko's working visit to Germany.

"The interlocutors discussed the bilateral agenda, including the situation in Russian-occupied Donbas and Crimea," the report reads.

It notes that special attention was paid to the issue of immediate and unconditional release of Ukrainian seamen and political prisoners illegally held by Russia.

Kramp-Karrenbauer praised the transparency of the first round of presidential elections in Ukraine and their compliance with high democratic standards.

Poroshenko thanked Germany for helping implement reforms in Ukraine.

On April 12, Poroshenko is on working visits to Germany and France to meet with the leadership of these states.
