UK calls on Russia to stop reprisals against Crimean Tatars

The United Kingdom is concerned about the unlawful searches and arrests of Crimean Tatars by Russian occupation authorities in Crimea and calls on Russia to release the detainees immediately.

“Alarming to see unlawful searches and arrests of Crimean Tatars by Russian authorities. We call on Russia to end human rights violations and prosecution of those who oppose its illegal annexation of Crimea, and to release the detained Crimean Tatars immediately,” the British Embassy in Ukraine posted on Twitter.

As reported, on March 27, mass searches were conducted in the houses of Crimean Tatars in the occupied Crimea, followed by detentions of the Crimean Solidarity activists.

The European Union, the United Nations, the United States and Turkey condemned the searches and detentions and called on Russia to release all the illegally detained citizens.
