Ukraine to open honorary consulate in Poland’s Katowice tomorrow

The Honorary Consulate of Ukraine will be open in the Polish city of Katowice on Friday, March 29.

The future honorary consul of Ukraine in Katowice, Jarosław Wieczorek, said this to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"The solemn opening of the honorary consulate will be held at 17:00 (at 18:00 Kyiv time)," he said.

The Ukrainian ambassador to Poland, the mayor of Katowice, deputies and senators representing the region in the parliament, the Ukrainian consul general in Krakow, and the Ukrainian honorary consuls from other Polish cities will take part in the opening.

The opening of new consular offices in Poland happens due to an increase in the number of Ukrainian migrant workers in Poland. Their number today reaches about 1.5 million people.

As of today, there are four consulates in Poland (Gdansk, Warsaw, Krakow and Lublin) and 11 honorary consulates in different regions of the country.
