Russia already lost over USD 150 bln and 10% of GDP due to occupation of Crimea – president

Russia has lost more than USD 150 billion and 10% of GDP due to the sanctions imposed for its occupation of Ukrainian Crimea.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said this during a meeting with students and professors of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"Russia has already paid more than USD 150 billion and 10% of Russia's GDP for its occupation of Crimea. A 20% drop in living standards in Russia is the price that Russia pays for the war in Ukraine. This provides the policy of sanctions in order not only to punish Russia but also to make it sit down at the negotiating table. Today, the whole world stands with Ukraine against Russia," Poroshenko stressed.
