Occupation of Donbas wrecks 25% of Ukraine’s industrial potential – President Poroshenko

The unemployment rate in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions has reached 60-70%, leading to a humanitarian crisis, President Petro Poroshenko has said.

"In the occupied territories, the unemployment rate ranges from 60 to 70 %, a total humanitarian catastrophe," he said on the Freedom of Speech show on ICTV channel on Monday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

Poroshenko stressed that after the occupation of some territories of Donbas, almost 25% of Ukraine’s industrial potential was destroyed. He added that the occupants "cut for scrap" Ukraine’s strategic enterprises or dismantled and removed equipment to Russia.
