Poroshenko thanks Canada for extension of Operation UNIFIER

President Petro Poroshenko thanked Canada for the decision to extend Operation UNIFIER, the Canadian Armed Forces military training mission in Ukraine.

"I am grateful to Canada for the decision to extend the mandate of Operation UNIFIER until 2022. This stands not only as a symbol of support of Ukraine in the face of the Russian aggression, which is a threat to the free world as a whole, but also means a practical assistance in training the Ukrainian military. I am grateful to the Canadian military for the skills imparted to a new Ukrainian Army. Proud that our defenders also share their experience learnt from Kremlin’s hybrid war," Poroshenko wrote on Facebook.

"Our solidarity is a guarantee of secure future of the entire Euro-Atlantic community. Russia is afraid of strong Ukraine supported by reliable allies. And I am glad that Canada is among our reliable allies, and also among our real partners and closest friends," the president noted.

As reported, Canada on March 18 decided to extend Operation UNIFIER to train Ukrainian service members until the end of March 2022.
