Russia must immediately release Ukrainian sailors and vessels — Volker

U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker has called on Russia to release Ukrainian sailors captured near the Kerch Strait.

"Russia should act in the manner worthy of a great nation, and immediately release the crew and vessels," Volker wrote on Twitter.

He recalled that 24 Ukrainian crew marked 100 days in Russian detention after Russia unjustifiably had attacked Ukrainian navy vessels near the Kerch Strait.

As reported, on November 25, 2018, Russian border ships fired on and seized in the Kerch Strait three Ukrainian naval vessels that were moving from Odesa to Mariupol. Twenty-four Ukrainian sailors were captured. They were charged with illegally crossing Russia's border in the Black Sea. All captured sailors called themselves prisoners of war.
