Canada must stand with Ukraine against Russia - Bezan

Canada must continue to stand together with Ukraine against Russian President Vladimir Putin, Canada's Shadow Minister for National Defense James Bezan has said.

"Today we honor the memory of the Heavenly Hundred. I stood on the street in Ukraine just days later among the ash and blood stains. The bravery and sacrifice shown by protesters as they stood up against an aggressor deserve the highest praise. We must continue to stand together with Ukraine against Putin and his proxies," Bezan wrote on his Facebook page.

He also added: "The legacy of the Heavenly Hundred and all those who took part in the Revolution of Dignity live on. Slava Ukrayini, heroyam slava!"

Bezan is one of the 13 Canadians who Russia declared personae non gratae shortly after the start of its aggression against Ukraine for their strong support of Ukraine. Incumbent Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland, President of the Ukrainian World Congress Paul Grod and Canadian opposition leader Andrew Scheer were also added to this list.
