Poroshenko: Kremlin aims to destroy Ukrainian statehood

Russia is trying to destroy the Ukrainian statehood, which is confirmed, in particular by its aggressive actions in the Azov-Black Sea basin and the capture of Ukrainian sailors.

"The goal of the Kremlin is to destroy the Ukrainian statehood, to create the so-called second version of the Soviet Union. You know very well what the Soviet Union is, what the Warsaw Pact is. Only our effective actions, our solidarity will prevent us from returning to those grievous times,” President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said during the meeting with President of the European Council Donald Tusk, the press service of the President of Ukraine reports.

Poroshenko also thanked Tusk for his personal stance on support for Ukraine.

"You have forever entered history as a person who has done a great deal for Ukraine. And the Ukrainian people are very grateful to you. I am very happy that we stand with you in these very important days for Ukraine," Petro Poroshenko added.
