Poroshenko: There will be no Ukraine if it ceases to defend itself

If Russia stops shooting, peace will come to Donbas. If Ukraine stops shooting, there will be no Ukraine.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said this during his speech at the Munich Security Conference today, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

“I hate the idea when I hear some people say that Ukraine and Russia must stop shooting. If Russia stops shooting, there will be peace. If Ukraine stops shooting, there will be no Ukraine,” Poroshenko said.

He added that Ukraine defends its sovereignty, territorial integrity, democracy and freedom in the center of Europe in the 21st century.

Poroshenko thanked international partners for the five-year support, in particular, for supporting reforms in Ukraine and the sanctions policy against the Russian Federation.

As reported, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on February 15-16 is on a working visit to Germany and participates in the 55th Munich Security Conference.
