Ukraine, Turkey together to ensure security in Black Sea region – Klimkin

Ukraine and Turkey discussed the issue on providing security in the Black Sea region.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said this this at a joint press conference with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu in Odesa on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

“We had a very good conversation regarding security in the Black Sea region. This is a sensitive issue, and we will continue to discuss it with our servicemen and special services. I believe that we should talk not only about the exchange of information and joint exercises but also about real actions,” Klimkin said.

He noted that he would not call some things yet. At the same time, Klimkin said that Turkey “plans in the coming years to provide special assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.“

“We are talking about a large amount of money and serious directions - we are talking about tens of millions of dollars,” the Ukrainian minister said.

He also noted that the military and technical sectors of both countries "continue to move towards synergy" and had agreements on joint development of some armed systems.

As reported, the Seventh Meeting of the Ukrainian-Turkish Joint Strategic Planning Group was held in Odesa on February 1 under the chairmanship of the Ukrainian and Turkish foreign ministers.
