Austria takes decision on ambassador to Ukraine

Gernot Pfandler, who previously headed the Austrian Embassy in Kosovo, was appointed Austria's new ambassador to Ukraine.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the Council of Ministers Service of Austria, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

Gernot Pfandler is a foreign service officer who has been working in the Austrian Foreign Ministry since 2001, a well-known expert on the Western Balkans.

The appointment of the new ambassador to Ukraine took place as part of a large-scale planned rotation of the Austrian ambassadors in nearly 20 countries.

The former Austrian ambassador to Ukraine, Hermine Poppeller, was appointed the ambassador to Greece.
