Ukraine calls on EU to increase pressure on Russia to save Pavlo Hryb's life

Ukraine’s representative to the European Union Mykola Tochytskyi informed the EU partners about critical health of Ukrainian political prisoner Pavlo Hryb and called for joint efforts to save his life.

"Head of the Mission of Ukraine to the EU Mykola Tochytskyi: we informed our EU partners European External Action Service - EEAS on critical heath condition of Pavlo Hryb. We call on the EU to step up pressure on Russia in order to provide him immediately with necessary medical care. Only with resolute joint efforts we can save Pavlo's life," the Mission of Ukraine to the EU wrote on Facebook.

As reported, Verkhovna Rada Human Rights Commissioner Liudmyla Denisova told about the supercritical health condition of Ukrainian political prisoner Pavlo Hryb held in the Russian Federation and called on the international community to provide medical assistance to him.

Pavlo Hryb disappeared on August 24, 2017 in Belarus, where he went to the city of Gostomel to date a girl with whom he communicated on social networking sites.

In September, it became known that Pavlo Hryb was in a detention center in Krasnodar (Russia), charged with terrorism. At the same time, his lawyer said that Pavlo had been kidnapped by FSB officers.

On November 7, the North Caucasus Military District Court in the Russian city of Rostov-on-Don extended the arrest of Pavlo Hryb until April 24, 2019.
